As a Low Carbon Consultant, one condition of remaining on the Register is making an Annual Carbon Return. CIBSE has developed a straightforward Excel spreadsheet to assist you with making your Carbon return which does the calculating for you.

The return, which you should find simple and no more onerous than other reporting methods, is designed to allow you to report on a design project, refurbishment works or an operational/management initiative and can be for a single building or an initiative across a whole estate of buildings. You can also make a return for your own contribution to a project that had more than one low carbon consultant.

CIBSE will use your return, aggregated with those of your fellow Register members, to publicise the levels of savings made possible by employing a Low Carbon Consultant and also to report overall carbon savings to the Carbon Trust, so your returns are of great value.

Carbon emissions saved over and above current regulations are the best possible demonstration of benefits of employing a low carbon consultant and your returns will make a major contribution to the work of publicising the Register, and drawing attention to the expertise of Registrants.
