When is an Air Conditioning System Inspection Required?

The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 require inspection of all air conditioning systems with rated outputs over 12 kW at intervals not greater than 5 years. Those over 12kW must be inspected by 4 January 2011 and the work must be carried out by an accredited inspector.

CIBSE accredits only air conditioning inspectors capable of working on complex systems, although all those accredited by CIBSE can also inspect simple systems. For an explanation of a simple and complex air conditioning system click here
